Sackville Refugee Response Coalition members earn Citizen of the Year Award

Sackville N.B. Tribune-Post – For their tireless work in ensuring three refugee families will eventually call this community home, members of the Sackville Refugee Response Coalition (SRRC) have earned Renaissance Sackville’s 2016 Citizen of the Year Award.

“This award is presented to people who bring to life the vision that Renaissance Sackville sees for the town. The Sackville Refugee Response Coalition has not only helped make our town of Sackville a more vibrant, caring friendly and gracious community, they have helped make the world a more caring and gracious place. They have made a local Sackville contribution to an urgent global humanitarian concern.”

Accepting the award on behalf of the group during Friday’s ceremony was SRRC chair John Perkin.

“I’ve had many people congratulate me over the course of several months. I’m always humbled by these congratulations because they should be extended to so many other people. So this recognition by the town of Sackville this evening is deservedly recognition of a coalition and truly the whole town.
