Trauma-Informed Care

Union of Medical Care and Relief Organizations-Canada (UOSSM Canada) is organizing a symposium on trauma-informed care and refugee healthcare. 

This symposium aims to address long-term physical effects of trauma and present effective guidelines to assess and manage those conditions. 

By the end of this session, participants will be able to: 

  • Understand the relationship between the experience of trauma and the ensuing impact on long-term physical and psychological functioning 

  • Comprehend how sociocultural context has an influence on the way trauma is experienced and expressed 

  • Screen for common health concerns ranging from bone health to diabetes, in refugees and apply appropriate intervention
