A Webinar Series for Service Providers and Refugee Sponsors

As part of the Refugee Settlement Support Project, OCASI is hosting a webinar series for service providers and refugee sponsorship groups to bridge some of the information gaps identified through previous focus group and roundtable discussions. The webinars are designed to clarify roles and responsibilities and increase transparency about practices and procedures in an effort to strengthen understanding and improve collaboration between service providers and refugee sponsors. Refugee Sponsorship Cases: How Are Refugees Selected By Sponsors?

Unlike individuals resettled through the Government-Assisted Refugee (GAR) Program, privately sponsored refugees are not selected or destined by the government to a particular community in Canada. Collaborating For The Benefit Of Refugees: Sharing Promising Practices II

Continuing the conversation on sharing promising practices on building partnerships and collaborating across sectors to better support privately sponsored refugees, we will be joined by members of Refugee613 for this webinar. Refugee613 is a coalition of citizens, settlement agencies, sponsorship groups and community partners in Ottawa that came together to inform, connect and inspire each other as various stakeholders. The majority of Ottawa’s service providers and refugee sponsorship groups are members of this group.
