How can I get a proof of vaccination if I was vaccinated outside of Ontario?

Starting September 22, 2021, everyone aged 12 and older will need to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 along with a piece of identification to access certain public spaces in Ontario.

These spaces include higher-risk indoor public places where face coverings cannot always be worn; such as cinemas and restaurants. These new rules will not apply to outdoor settings where the risk of transmission is lower; such as outdoor dining patios and parks.

To help prevent the further introduction and transmission of COVID-19 and its new variants, the Government of Canada has introduced additional measures to protect the health and safety of Canadians.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) clients who are currently eligible to travel to Canada, in accordance with the travel restrictions and exemptions, are still able to do so. This includes privately sponsored refugees who received their permanent resident visa prior to March 18, 2020.

Canada to implement new testing and quarantine measures to reduce COVID-19 infection related to non-essential international air travel

Canadians are strongly advised to cancel or postpone any non-essential travel plans outside of Canada. Now is not the time to travel. Additionally, air travellers who decide to travel for non-essential reasons will face new expenses when they return to Canada. This is in addition to providing proof of a negative pre-departure test.

What are the requirements for the arrival to Canada?

As of November 21, 2020, if you're flying to Canada as your final destination, you must use ArriveCAN to submit your:

  • travel and contact information
  • quarantine plan 
  • COVID-19 symptom self-assessments

You must use ArriveCAN before you board your flight to Canada. You can choose to use the ArriveCAN app or sign into ArriveCAN online.

UNHCR warns 2020 risks lowest resettlement levels in recent history

2020 will be a record low for refugee resettlement, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, warns. “We are dealing with a disappointingly low resettlement ceiling to begin with - a quota of less than 50,000 for the entire year - and this was further impacted by COVID-19 delaying departures and pausing some states’ resettlement programs,” said UNHCR’s Assistant High Commissioner for Protection, Gillian Triggs.
