Refugee claims based on sexual orientation and gender identity are the most complex and difficult cases that the Immigration and Refugees Board (IRB) gets. The Centre for Refugee Studies is organizing a seminar to discuss the common pitfalls that the IRB makes to assess these claims.

FCJ Refugee Centre is organizing a free orientation for refugee claimants appealing the negative decision to the Refugee Appeal Division (RAD) of the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB).
This information session will enable refugees to know:
What they need to do to appeal their negative decision
What documents they need for their appeal
What happens during an appeal to the RAD
On top of being complex, refugee hearings can be quite a source of anxiety for refugee claimants.
Most of them go through anxiety, fear, and emotional anguish.
To help assist the claimants, Matthew House has developed a Refugee Hearing Program (RHP).
This program aims to prepare claimants for their hearing before the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB).
This training will provide an overview of the Refugee Hearing Program (RHP) and the refugee determination process.
