CTVNews Ottawa - It's hard to imagine a group of grads looking happier than they did today.

Fifteen of them, all Syrians, all part of Algonquin College's first class of Culinary and Job Skills for Newcomers to Canada. When they stepped foot on Canadian soil several months ago, these Syrian refugees were embarking on new lives.

Now, they're embarking on new careers, embracing their country and a whole new way of life.

Are you interested in knowing how to sponsors refugees from overseas as a Group of Five or Community Sponsor and need to know how?

Refugee Sponsorship Training Program (RSTP) and Refugee Sponsorship Support Program (SSP) in partnership with Menonite Central Committee (MCC) will conduct an information session on G5 and Community Sponsorship options. 

In these session, you will learn what a G5 and Community Sponsorships are, what the requirements are for sponsoring through those streams and what forms you will need to fill.

Thousands of refugees and other newcomers arrive in Toronto every year, but many struggle to find a job, let alone one they want.

To solve that, problem Arash Samimi co-founded The Livelihood Project  - a community space, an agency and a mobile app all designed to help newcomers find employment and build careers.

CBCNews - Many of the Syrian newcomers who helped organize the lunch were fasting themselves.

Syrian newcomers hosted a free lunch on Sunday for homeless and low-income Torontonians as a way of giving back during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. 

"We want to show other people how Muslims are in Ramadan, we need to show others we have ... to give our help to other people," said Mohamad Alhaj, who arrived in Toronto 18 months ago.
