A sponsorship breakdown happens when sponsors are unable or unwilling to give further support to the sponsored family prior to the end of the sponsorship period (usually the first 12 months  that the family is in Canada). It is an official declaration that an irremediable failure to meet the sponsorship arrangement has occurred. The responsibility for a sponsorship breakdown may either rest with the refugees or the sponsor.

Offered in English and Arabic, the guide offers tips on lifestyle in Canada, education, taxes, and banking.

The guide aims to be a straightforward and fast introduction to to the processes, habits, and aspects of the Canadian culture that are not explicit.

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and the Crossroads Clinic at Women’s College Hospital have been working together to find ways to respond to the mental health needs of Syrian newcomers during and after the current resettlement surge.

Starting in March 2016 the Mood and Anxiety Ambulatory Service at CAMH will launch a refugee mental health and wellness service called the New Beginnings Clinic.

The Syrian Refugee Medical Assessment Translation Tool is available for free to health care providers for mental health screening. It was developed to help reduce language barriers between Syrian refugees and healthcare providers.
These free, secure online tools have been developed to allow patients to complete a full history and mental health screening in Arabic or Armenian, with the results automatically translated to English for healthcare providers to review and add to the patient record.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced the release of the Language Training for Canada video in Arabic. The purpose of the Language Training for Canada video is to raise newcomer awareness on the importance of official language skills for settlement in Canada.

The Language Training for Canada video is also available in English and French.
