4th Annual Conference of Building a Blueprint to address GBV against non-status, refugee and immigrant women across Canada.

Join us in Toronto on November 23 & 24, 2023, for a two-day in-person conference bringing together non-status, refugee, and immigrant (NSRI) women survivors, service providers, organizational leaders, and community advocates to discuss and engage on the future of addressing gender-based violence (GBV) against NSRI communities.

The goals of the conference are to promote meaningful and diverse ways of engagement and participation of NSRI survivors as leaders in ongoing work to address GBV. Join us to:

  • Learn about the development, commitment, and challenges of survivor-led and community advocacy models to address GBV against NSRI communities
  • Exchange knowledge on strategies and practices that support intersectional lived experiences and leadership in addressing GBV
  • Participate in collective engagement to identify recommendations that center NSRI survivor need
  • Strengthen meaningful partnerships nationally that centres the knowledge and expertise of NSRI women

Conference sessions and activities include the debut of a creative theatrical piece by and for NSRI leaders, engaging discussions on different forms of leadership and advocacy in the work of addressing GBV, forums on the role of social media to support NSRI communities, and panel discussions on future plans to address GBV that integrate the unique needs of NSRI communities across Canada.

Please note those who register will receive further information about the location, logistics, and agenda via email.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email buildingleadership@ocasi.org

We strive to create a trauma and violence-informed conference in order to provide a safe and inclusive space that promotes the participation of NSRI survivors in a more caring, compassionate, person-centered, and non-judgmental way.

This event is funded by the Women and Gender Equality (WAGE) project led by OCASI - Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants, Building Leadership Capacity to address GBV against NSRI women across Canada.
