Resettling Afghans who Assisted Canada
Publié
Afghan nationals may be eligible to apply for a special resettlement program if they worked with the Canadian Armed Forces or were employed at the Embassy of Canada to Afghanistan.
Eligible roles may include:
- interpreters
- cooks
- drivers
- cleaners
- construction workers
- security guards
- local embassy support staff
Applicants and eligible family members, including de facto dependants, must be living in Afghanistan when they submit their application for this special program and are not considered inadmissible to Canada for reasons other than health.
To help these families adjust to life in Canada, service provider organizations in communities across Canada are preparing to welcome them. Settlement organizations will help them find permanent housing, language training, a job and connections within their new communities. All of these supports and services will help Afghans settle into their new homes. These same supports helped over 800 Afghan nationals that resettled in Canada over the last decade. You can read more about how Canada's refugee system works on Settlement.Org.
To protect the safety of all those being evacuated and the security of those involved in this operation in Afghanistan, personal details will not be released, including information on where these families will be resettled in Canada.
