OCASI Webinar: Human Rights in Ontario

Visit the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI) website

OCASI, in partnership with the Human Rights Legal Support Centre (HRLSC), is pleased to invite you to a webinar: Human Rights in Ontario

About the webinar

This webinar will offer participants an overview of the Human Rights Code (the "Code"), the legislation protecting individuals in Ontario from discrimination in their living, working, and service-receiving environments. Participants will also gain an understanding of the roles that the three agencies that make up Ontario’s human rights system – the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, the Ontario Human Rights Commission, and the Human Rights Legal Support Centre – play in upholding and enforcing the Code.

Additionally, the session will explore fundamental human rights concepts and principles, including discrimination, harassment, and the duty to accommodate. Attendees will also receive guidance on accessing further information and legal advice regarding human rights issues and what steps to take if they believe their rights under the Code have been violated.

  • Melissa Mark (she/her): Lawyer and Research Counsel at the Human Rights Legal Support Centre [HRLSC]
