Will children get French as a second language (FSL) instruction at school?
Yes. Since French is one of Canada’s two official languages, all students in Ontario's public English-language schools study French from Grades 4 to 8. In high school, students need to complete at least one FSL credit to get their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. This applies to schools that offer core French programs.
French classes are available for all students in English-language schools, including those with special needs and those learning English.
