About the workshop

Canadian sponsors often face significant challenges in understanding and empowering newcomers during their settlement process. One major hurdle is the language barrier, which complicates communication and the provision of essential services. Sponsors must navigate complex administrative requirements and gather extensive information about refugees' backgrounds, often without adequate language support.

Additionally, the cultural differences and power imbalance between sponsors and refugees can lead to misunderstandings and difficulties in fostering a sense of community. Sponsors may struggle to provide tailored support that addresses the unique needs of each refugee.

This event is designed to have two very experienced Canadians share their strategies and tactics to address empowering newcomers during their settlement journey.
