About the mandatory e-training course

The SAH101 e-training course is a mandatory requirement for organizations who intend to apply to become a SAH in 2024, and have:

  • been incorporated for at least two years,
  • previous experience in private sponsorship and settlement of refugees,
  • the financial and human capacity to sponsor multiple undertakings each year.

This course is designed to provide participants with essential information about the eligibility requirements, the SAH application process, the SAH Agreement, SAH financial and settlement responsibilities, and best practices for monitoring and working with constituent groups/co-sponsors.

The mandatory e-training course must be taken by:

  • the head of the organization,
  • the organization’s main contact for refugee sponsorship, and;
  • any signing authorities who will be designated as representatives for submitting sponsorship applications on behalf of the organization.

Participants can work through the materials at a pace and time that works best for them. However, they are expected to spend approximately 6 hours completing the course materials and obtaining a minimum passing grade of 60% before a certificate will be issued.

When will the mandatory SAH course begin?

The course will be available when the 2024 application submission period opens. Watch for IRCC’S announcement on the canada.ca website to see when the period begins.
