OCASI - Initiative to End Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is pleased to announce the upcoming self-directed online course on Understanding and Responding to Sexual Violence in Immigrant and Refugee Communities - Level 2
About this Course
This five-module online self-directed course is developed to help front-line practitioners working with immigrant and refugee communities to better understand issues of sexual violence and develop a supportive response for survivors with intersectional identities. After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Understand a feminist, anti-oppressive approach to sexual violence and harassment that incorporates intersectionality.
- Be knowledgeable about responding to and supporting senior women, disabled women, 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and women who have been trafficked.
- Be knowledgeable about existing resources and supports appropriate for specific populations.
Criteria for Participation
This course is open to settlement workers and service providers who are working in or with the immigrant and refugee-serving sector across Ontario, and who are willing to:
- Commit to approximately 2-4 hours of learning per week
- Engage in a weekly discussion forum
At the successful completion of the course, you will receive a certification of completion from OCASI.
