Webinar: The Significance of Improving Self-Esteem for Survivors of Gender-Based Violence
OCASI/ Neighbours, Friends and Families (NFF) Campaign invites you to participate in the upcoming webinar: The Significance of Improving Self-Esteem for Survivors of Gender-Based Violence.
The panelists, two OCASI/NFF Peer Champions Bolanle Ajiboyea, Adebola Adefioye, and Suzan Abdelnour, will discuss the relationships between gender-based violence and self-esteem and the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment for the survivors of GBV.
Speakers:
- Bolanle Ajiboye: Peer Champion for OCASI's NFF Peer Champion Program. She has over eleven years of professional experience in the fields of management, social services, trauma-informed counselling, inclusive mental health, and addiction support services. She has worked closely with newcomer immigrants, refugee women of colour, and families who have experienced Gender Based violence, sexual violence, human trafficking, childhood trauma, and sexual exploitation. Bolanle is a program manager in a mental health and addiction center serving racialized communities.
- Adebola Adefioye: Founder & Executive Director at Afro Women and Youth Foundation. Adebola is a Peer Champion for OCASI's NFF Peer Champion Program. Her professional background includes community engagement, early childhood education, and non-profit management. Her passion is building authentic relationships with racialized, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour) children, families, and communities and collaborating with them to reduce inequities, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and improve mental health and wellness.
- Suzan Abdelnour: Suzan has 15 years of work experience as a social worker in Violence Against Women, mental health and addictions, homeless youth, refugees, child protection and anti-human trafficking. Suzan has a human rights degree from York University And also completed the certification course, Assaulted Women and Counsellor Advocate Program at George Brown College.
The webinar will feature presentations by the three speakers, a moderated discussion, and a Q&A with participants.
